CURRENT NEEDS
Case For Support: CT Scanner
Fundraising for a New CT Scanner
The current CT scanner at Georgetown Hospital has served us faithfully since its installation in November 2013. However, with a typical lifespan of just 10 years, it is nearing the end of its serviceable life. As of 2024, the scanner had completed 1.7 million scans, with an estimated 13,000 exams expected this year. We are fast approaching a critical point where the scanner’s capacity will no longer meet the growing demand for diagnostic services.
The CT scanner is a vital resource for our healthcare professionals, helping to diagnose a wide range of medical conditions, from trauma injuries to complex diseases. This essential equipment provides images that help our radiologists and physicians make life-saving decisions.
A new CT scanner offers several benefits:
- Lower radiation for patient safety.
- Faster scan times to reduce wait times and speed up diagnosis.
- More sensitive detectors for clearer, more detailed images.
- Advanced software that provides radiologists with more precise information for better diagnoses.
- Less contrast needed for clearer results with fewer side effects.
Investing in a new CT scanner will ensure that Georgetown Hospital can continue to provide high-quality care to our community. The ability to detect abnormalities faster and with greater detail means that diagnoses will be more accurate, leading to better treatment outcomes. Faster scan times and reduced radiation exposure also contribute to a safer and more efficient experience for our patients.
With your help, we will raise $2.5 million for this critical equipment upgrade, which will impact the health and well-being of thousands of patients and families.
“Getting the new GH CT scanner is incredibly exciting because it represents a leap forward in diagnostic imaging. The advanced technology will allow us to capture clearer, more detailed images, leading to faster and more accurate diagnoses. This means better patient care and outcomes, which is ultimately what drives our passion and commitment in the medical field.”
